The Special Olympics International Board of Directors is the ultimate governing authority for the Special Olympics movement and is composed of leaders in the areas of business, government, disability, sports and entertainment. The Board is responsible for the global affairs and strategies of Special Olympics; determines its policies and programs and oversees all top-level management. Members are elected to a three-year term and may be re-elected twice - for a maximum of nine consecutive years of service.

“What an honor to our athletes and entire movement for these two leaders to join Special Olympics,” said Dr. Timothy P. Shriver, Chairman and CEO of Special Olympics. “They will contribute powerful expertise to our organization, helping us connect through technology and music with broader audiences and furthering our mission.”

Katie Mitic:

She is responsible for shaping and growing innovative products for over two million developers and businesses that engage with Facebook’s community of over 500 million people.  Previous to Facebook, Mitic held executive roles in product, marketing at business development at Palm, Yahoo!, and a number of successful Silicon Valley startups.
