The purpose of the Sports Rules Advisory Committee (SRAC) is to conduct an on-going review of the Sports Rules and make recommendations to SOI concerning amendments to the Sports Rules proposed by the Sport Resource Teams (SRT’s) and/or by Accredited Programs. Sports Rules Advisory Committee members must:

  • Review and vote on rule change proposals, including Article I of the Sports Rules, that have been reviewed by Sport Resource Teams
  • Serve as a liaison between SOI-HQ, Regional offices and Programs to continually review sport rules for clarity and functionality in the field
  • Call for input from the field for proposed rule changes in each cycle and comment on the most effective formats and delivery systems for dissemination of Special Olympics Sports Rules.

The overall appointment to the Sports Rules Advisory Committee will be on a 4-year cycle with members having to be re-appointed each 4 years. We are currently looking for additional representation from the Europe Eurasia, Africa and East Asia regions. Individuals are nominated by their regional sport offices.

By January 31, 2011, the revised rules (including rule change summary) will be posted at resources.specialolympics.org
