    Fifteen participants from Special Olympics National Programs in 8 European countries will gather in Belgium for the 2016 European Cycling Coach Seminar. The focus is on training cycling coaches so as to insure higher quality of competition events.

    A maximum of 50 athletes with intellectual disabilities will pair up with 50 athletes without intellectual disabilities to compete in this annual sailing event. The event is taking place in association with Olympus Nederland and Ronde Tafel (www.rondetafel.nl).

    5-a-Side Special Olympics Unified Football Tourney

    Against the backdrop of the breath taking setting of St Peter's Oratory in Rome, Special Olympics will demonstrate the power of sport to create a Unified world. Teams from all over Italy and Europe made up of athletes with and without intellectual disabilities, will compete in the Special Olympics 5-a-side Unified Football Tourney from May 20th to May 22nd. The teams will come from Hungary, Lithuania, France, Poland as well as four teams from Italy: Team Piemante, Team Lazio, Albano Primavera and Team Sardegena. Each team is made up of nine players (5 Special Olympics athletes and 4 team mates without intellectual disabilities). The teams will also be accompanied by 24 coaches and 50 family members cheering them on.

    UEFA Champions Festival

    Every year UEFA host a four day festival celebrating the best of the beautiful game of soccer. And each year this event includes a 5-a-side tournament between Special Olympics footballers. The purpose is to demonstrate to the European football communities the skills and capabilities of athletes with intelletual disabilities. The 2016 event will take place in the stunning setting of the courtyard of the Castello Sforzesco in Rome, Italy. On May 26th, 30 athletes will play on a 5-a-side astro turf pitch set up there. This free four day event includes entertainment, music and football themed events. There will be photo exhibition of the best football photography from across the region. It will include images from Special Olympics events.
