Special Olympics Athletes from Poland honour their First Lady for all the support she has shown them.
The First Lady of Poland has always been a strong advocate of Special Olympics following her experience as host of the 2010 Special Olympics European Games hosted in Warsaw Poland.
She continued this support by travelling to Athens to enjoy the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games and now most recently hosting a fantastic reception for all of the Polish athletes and coaches to thank them for the pride and joy they brought to Poland this summer.
80 athletes competed for Poland in the World Games in June bringing back 87 medals. All took the opportunity to have their photo taken with the First Lady who had developed a warm and happy relationship with them all.
Gratitude was also made to the coaches and volunteers who supported each of the athletes through the host town programme, training sessions and competitions.
Chairperson of Special Olympics Poland and wife of Polish entrepreneur Mr Zbigniew Niemczycki, Katarzyna Frank-Niemczycka, expressed her deep gratitude to First Lady Anna Komorowska for attending the opening ceremony of the 2011 Games and support for the Polish team. She urged that the President of Poland continued to support the actions of Special Olympics athletes saying: “Your experience, intuition and authority are tremendous support to us”.
