SO Serbia athletes attend UEFA EURO 2012 Group C Qualifier

Special Olympics Serbia football players and coaches were thrilled to receive free tickets to watch the UEFA EURO 2012 Group C qualifier between Italy and Serbia on 7 October, 2011 in Belgrade

Special Olympics Serbia football players and coaches were thrilled to receive free tickets to watch the UEFA EURO 2012 Group C qualifier between Italy and Serbia on 7 October, 2011 in Belgrade.  The tickets were a gift from the Serbian Football Association (FA) to the team in recognition of its gold medal win at the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece.   As they took their seats, Special Olympics players were amazed to see the Special Olympics logo ring the pitch.  Special Olympics Serbia, and in particular its sports director Miodrag “Max” Maksimovic, have been developing a solid relationship with the FA. Maksimovic, a member of a FIFA grassroots committee, recently presented an update on Special Olympics football to the group.  Impressed, the FA then approached Special Olympics Serbia and suggested the pitch promotion and offered the tickets.  The match was broadcast in Serbia and Italy and on Eurosport.
