The world’s largest sports and humanitarian event in 2017 will be the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Graz and Schladming, Austria.
Sports teams mixing people with and without intellectual disabilities are fun for everyone.
At Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, Special Olympics Athletes and their Unified Partners will compete a dual giant slalom race which will consist of two timed runs. The combined times of the each snowboarder’s best time determine the results.
There will be games and competition in table tennis, bocce and athletics. Beside we have two initiative events, healthy athlete and Family forum. We will have 250 athletes and 100 family members and 100 coaches and 100 volunteers to participate in the event.
Approximately 900 athletes, 350 coaches/chaperones & 500 volunteers participate in the State Winter Games each year. Competition includes Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing and Snowboarding at Schuss Mountain at Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire; Speed Skating and Figure Skating at Howe Ice Arena in Traverse City; and Snowshoeing at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Acme.

Join us February 15th at Kasarani International Sports Center - Safaricom Indoor Gymnasium in Nairobi, Kenya as our athletes participate in Floor Hockey Training Camp to prepare for the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games.
The NY Football Giants Snow Bowl is an official 6-on-6 flag football tournament with light blocking, played over three days. Teams are allowed up to 15 players; all must be 18 years of age or older to participate. All proceeds collected by the flag football teams benefit Special Olympics New Jersey athletes and help foster the Special Olympics mission.
The Special Olympics World Winter Games were held in Austria in 1993 and will be returning to the country in 2017. The Games will be held throughout Austria in three primary locations: in Graz (the second largest city in Austria and capital of the Styria region), Schladming (host city of the Alpine Skiing World Championships in 1982 and 2013) and Ramsau (host city of the Nordic Skiing World Championships in 1999).
Free health and sports fitness exams will be offered to all athletes attending the 2017 World Winter Games will have the opportunity to receive free health and sports exams. Doctors, nurses and medical students offer their time for free to examine our athletes. They check the eyes, ears, feet, mouth and teeth. The health care volunteers make sure the athletes at a Games are fit to compete.
The Unified Soccer Tournament will be held at Bonner Springs High School, 100 McDanield St, Bonner Springs, KS. The Tournament will begin at 9:00am. The Kansas Unified Sports League will host its culminatng soccer tournament of the season. Area high schools, middle schools and adult will compete against teams of similar ability in tournament-style competition. Teams are composed of Special Olympics athletes and volunteer partners who practice and compete together to enhance their skills and form friendships. They exemplify that “Together, we will achieve.”
This is an event for all Areas. Male and female athletes from across the state will compete in Athletics (Track & Field), Bocce, Powerlifting and Unified Volleyball. Sign up today to play, coach or volunteer for this event.
There will be a Healthy Athletes Clinic happening at the Danang International Marathon in Biendong Park, Danang City, Vietnam on Sunday morning.
