    Norma's Cafe is proud to host officers from the Dallas Police Department and athletes from the Special Olympics Texas again this May to raise money through tips and a portion of Tuesday the 17th's sales! After a few years of our #TipACop we are hoping to make 2016 even more successful! Tip A Cop is an event where local law enforcement agency officers serve Norma’s Cafe customers in order to raise awareness of Special Olympics Texas.     Against the backdrop of the breath taking setting of St Peter's Oratory in Rome, Special Olympics will demonstrate the power of sport to create a Unified world. Teams from all over Italy and Europe made up of athletes with and without intellectual disabilities, will compete in the Special Olympics 5-a-side Unified Football Tourney from May 20th to May 22nd. The teams will come from Hungary, Lithuania, France, Poland as well as four teams from Italy: Team Piemante, Team Lazio, Albano Primavera and Team Sardegena. Each team is made up of nine players (5 Special Olympics athletes and 4 team mates without intellectual disabilities). The teams will also be accompanied by 24 coaches and 50 family members cheering them on.

    Fall Sports Classic Healthy Athletes Event

    At the Healthy Athletes event at the Fall Sports Classic, the following disciplines will be offered: Opening Eyes, Special Smiles, Healthy Hearing, and Health Promotions. These screenings will be offered free to all athletes who have a current physical on file at Special Olympics Kansas. Screening forms are sent to guardians if health issues are identified so a follow-up with their health care professional may be made. Each discipline has a Clinical Director who recruits volunteers to assist with the screening.
