About Yang

Ms. Yang is one of China’s leading broadcast journalists and media entrepreneurs. She is the Co-founder and Chairperson of Sun Media Group and Sun Culture Foundation. Ms. Yang won national fame in 1990 by hosting “Zheng Da Variety Show” on CCTV with a weekly audience of 200 million. Her renowned interview programme “Yang Lan One On One” has gained popularity with Chinese audiences across the world. Her women’s talk show “Her Village” has made great impact to the empowerment of women. In 1999, Ms.Yang founded Sun Media Group with her husband Dr. Bruno Wu. Today, Sun Media Group is one of China’s leading private media groups with a portfolio of assets that includes many media brands. Since 2006, Sun Media Group has developed “Her Village Media Ltd,” an integrated communication and marketing company targeting at the rising urban women population. In 2005, Ms.Yang founded the Sun Culture Foundation. The Foundation has played a prominent role in promoting education for underprivileged children and providing institutional support for the growth of China’s civil society. She also serves as the fi rst goodwill ambassador for UNICEF in China. She most recently received the National Women Award in 2010, the top prize for women’s achievement in China.
