Over 600 employees across all jurisdictions in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as 1300 employees in Great Britain will work with Special Olympics through a variety of fundraising and volunteering initiatives, either supporting specific projects or by helping with the day to day running of sports clubs and their planned activities, events and competitions.
As the world gears up for 2012, CMS Cameron McKenna will be working alongside the community Olympics, helping people with learning disabilities in Europe to use sport as a platform to promote respect, acceptance, inclusion and human dignity for people with intellectual and learning disabilities. There are some 5.5 million people with learning disabilities in the countries involved and the Special Olympics programmes in these areas currently reach out to 75,000 of these. CMS Cameron McKenna's fundraising and employee engagement activity over the two year partnership will go some way to reaching out to many more of these and creating a lasting legacy of inclusion and life opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
Our fundraising target for the partnership across all regions is approximately Euro 350,000. A champion or team of champions will be nominated for each CMS Cameron McKenna office and these will be matched to a Special Olympics contact in the relevant local programme. There will also be opportunities for CMS staff to meet Special Olympics athletes and take part in Special Olympics events.
