Grettel Hidalgo Never Gives Up

Grettel Hidalgo was born with hydrocephalus, a buildup of fluid inside the skull, that produces brain swelling, when she was a child doctors tried to drain the fluid in her brain with a valve that still remains in her brain and is replaced on a yearly basis.

Grettel’s mother said "She always runs with glasses, at the beginning we thought it was really difficult but she does very well. As a mother I am very proud to see her courage and dedication, she never gives up”

Grettel has the spirit of sport in her veins, she trains two hours a day under the guidance of two coaches, she currently lives in a mountainous area, hence she take advantage of the benefits of nature to prepare for oncoming events.

"I love runing, I enjoy it, for me there is nothing better than getting up early and do what I like to do" Every Sunday she is usually observed in competitions where she competes with the best athletes in Costa Rica. She runs 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 meters with great performance.

Be A Physiotherapist: A Dream

Besides sports, one of Grettel’s dreams is to become a physioterapist, Grettel said "My dream is to become a physiotherapist, to help my Special Olympics fellows because I know what we need".
