Serban Nicolescu is a Special Olympics athlete from Romania. After two years of research and interviews author Elena Lazar tells Serban's inspiring story in her new book entitled 'We Can Win'.

Serban Nicolescu competes in bocce, gymnastics, basketball and snowshoeing as well as being a full-time employee of Special Olympics Romania. He has represented his country at the Special Olympics World Summer Games Shanghai 2007; the Cross-Country and Snow-shoeing European Tournament Slovenia 2007; Special Olympics Austria National Games 2010 and attended the Special Olympics Global Congress in Morocco 2010. Serban is also an accomplished orator and is regularly invited to address conferences and seminars to tell his story and to highlight the importance of Special Olympics in his life and in the life of his family.
Author Elena Lazar and friend of Serban’s believed his story should be told. Her book ‘We Can Win’ is the result of more than two years work researching and interviewing Serban, his family, friends, work colleagues and his coaches at Special Olympics. She also spent months reading and analyzing Serban’s numerous speeches, newspaper articles and media interviews he has given.
