Upon completing the arduous certification process, Special Olympics Bharat Chairman Air Marshal Denzil Keelor (Retd.) noted the merits of the program, “We have committed to sustaining quality growth, training and management, because we are dedicated to giving the athletes the best.”
ISO determines how you do business, based on a company’s operating process. Each procedure and work instruction is defined and documented, for the company to deliver quality results, benefitting its customers. This documentation also creates the chance for continuous improvement, such as operating more efficiently to deliver better products or services. Employees are empowered to take control of their work processes, transforming the company from a reactive organization to a proactive one.
“A transparent explanation of how Special Olympics Bharat operates,” says Air Marshal Keelor, gives potential donors and corporate partners a better understanding of how the athletes benefit from quality sports training and competitions.
The audit process was completed in a record six months, compared to the standard one year timeframe. Air Marshal Keelor credits this to the due diligence of introducing the documentation process to prepare his team for the audit. The team also spent extensive time educating the ISO agency about Special Olympics’ vision and work, to help them align the Program’s work process with their assessment criteria.
Special Olympics Bharat is not resting on its laurels, and is working onwards to renew this yearly certification, with bi-monthly internal audits. “We have to keep the standard consistent,” stresses Air Marshal Keelor.
