Athletes really impressed the Dutch fans, displaying the major role sport plays to support and encourage the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.

Special Olympics the Netherlands hopes more athletes will take up bowling and the aim is for Special Olympics the Netherlands to take part in the next Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles in 2015 with bowling athletes.

Showcase of Skill

Although the Bowling was introduced recently in the Netherlands, four players – Martijn Vermeer, Arno de Jong, Gwendoline Jonkers en Truus Montee – enjoyed the unique opportunity to showcase their skills and enthusiasm for the sport of bowling.

Sincere appreciation to Addie Ophelders, ETBF President and his staff organizing the European Championships and for giving Special Olympics the Netherlands this great opportunity.
