Crowds and Cameras!
The turnout and support was spectacular as people lined the streets to cheer on Laura in glorious sunshine on July 23rd. As Laura stepped off the Torch Relay bus she was a true star as people waited to have their pictures taken with her and wished her well. As she took the Torch firmly in both hands she set off at a brisk pace through cheering crowds amid a sea of flags and cameras.

Dozens of friends and family were there to support her, including Martin Chittell from Avenues Trust (individually planned support in residential settings for people with learning disabilities and mental health issues). Avenues Trust nominated Laura to become Torchbearer.
“The crowds were amazing and I was so excited to carry the torch. I enjoyed every minute," said Laura.
“We're so grateful to everyone for the part they've played in enriching Laura's life,” said Ruth, Laura's mother.
Laura was also selected to work as a volunteer during the London Olympics. She is working at the Events Services in the Olympic Park.
