270 Athletes Crossed the Finish Line
270 Special
Olympics Hellas Athletes took part in a 1000m race as part of the 30th Athens
Classic Marathon. Their coaches, family members and volunteers all celebrated
the triumph of the human spirit at the finish line.
National Director
Artemis Vassilikopoulou, fired the starting pistol to signal the start of this
special 1000m race while President Joanna Despotopoulou together with the
President of the National Athletics Federation, Mr. Kostas Panagopoulos,
presented awards to the worthy winners.

Well Done To All
The total combined
number of runners in the 30th Athens Classic Marathon including the 10km,
5km and 1000m exceeded 26,000. Athenians gathered in large numbers in
glorious sunshine to applaud the Special Olympics runners and all the
participants.
