About This Page

Played in just about every country, the sport's success is due to the fact that it can be played by boys, girls, men and women of just about any physical build and ability. Football requires little in the way of specialized equipment and is organized using simple, intuitive rules. It's so fundamental to the future of Special Olympics' growth plans that it is the focus of our Global Football initiative. Football is perfect for Special Olympics Unified Sports, in which people with and without intellectual disabilities play on the same teams. In 2010, Special Olympics held its Unity Cup in connection with the World Cup. The coming years will see more exciting global and regional football events for Special Olympics.

    The Kim Källström Trophy

    The sixth edition of Kim Källström Trophy will be played between 17 and 21 July 2016. 30 teams, including Unified teams, from all over the world are expected to compete. The Kim Källström Trophy is a co-operation between Gothia Cup, Special Olympics and Swedish national player Kim Källström.

    Coaches weekend is a chance for coaches to become certified in multiple sports, as well as a chance to network with staff and other coaches. Saturday will feature the opportunity to become certified in 2 sports, a keynote speaker, and a bowling social. Sunday we are offering a soccer clinic, figure skating clinic, clinicians training, or an additional sport certification.To register, use the link below.

    Southwest Regional Soccer Tournament

    Southwest Regional Soccer Tournament

    The annual Special Olympics Michigan Southwest Regional Soccer Tournament is scheduled for Saturday September 10, 2016 with competition taking place from 9:00am - 2:00pm. Paris Ridge Elementary in Caledonia will play host to this year's event as constructions has forced us to move the event from it's previous home. We are now taking volunteer registrations for the event with the follow spots available: Registration, Awards, Medical, Scorekeeper, Timekeeper and Referee.
