Ten-pin Bowling commonly called "Bowling" in the US, is a competitive sport in which a player (the "bowler") rolles a bowling ball down a wooden or synthetic lane with the objectvie of scoring points by knocking down as many pins as possible.

Although Bowling does not belong to the Olympic sports, it is among the most popular sports in Special Olympics. It is a particularly beneficial sport to people with intellectual disabilities, irrespective of their age or sports abilities, since it ensures physical exercise and at the same time participation and social integration. Plus, it's great fun!

Now I love Special Olympics

By danielle blue

I got involved in Special Olympics in 1999. My first event was soccer. I remember loving it. I used to do all the sports, now I do track and field and bowling.View Story I have a mental illness called schizoaffective, which affects the way I think and act. I think things that aren't true sometimes and I take meds for it. I got involved in Special Olympics in 1999. My first event was soccer. I remember loving it. I used to do all the sports, now I do track and field and bowling. Those are my favorite sports. I love how Special Olympics allowed me to do sports. I wanted to try Special Olympics too but was unsure of how to become involved. Now I love Special Olympics. If you have a mental disability don't be afraid to go out there and do sports. It's good for the soul and spirit.

About danielle blue:I love Special Olympics. I love to travel, read, sing, and I love to walk.
