Tennis is a popular sport played at all levels of skill and by players of all ages. Every athlete aims in passing the ball to the opponent's side of the net, striking it with a tennis racquet. The sport emphasizes values, such as fair play, sportsmanship and respect for fellow competitors. Tennis is not only fun to play, but it is a lifetime sport activity that is fun to practice and fun to learn.

Soy Juan Puente López y soy un Campeón

I grew up in a family of athletes, my father practiced baseball, and athletics and my brothers and nephews tennis.View Story Crecí dentro de una familia de deportistas, mi padre practicó béisbol, mis hermanos atletismo y mis sobrinos tenis.A la edad 14 años inicié como bolero en el club Deportivo Potosino, mi hermano mayor trabajaba ahí y con la intención de que yo me distrajera y practicara alguna actividad física me llevaba frecuentemente cosa que me gustó mucho, ya que además de aprender a jugar obtenía un ingreso. Pero debido a mi discapacidad intelectual, no era muy requerido, motivo por el cual asistía en pocas ocasiones. Despuéss empece a entrenar en el Club Lomas Racquet. La práctica de este deporte me ha permitido desempeñarme como atajador y posteriormente como jugador, ya que en el club he jugado con los socios y puedo tener ingresos que conllevan tener un estilo de vida con más calidad.He participado en torneos de singles y dobles, dentro del estado, como en otras ciudades cercanas. La práctica de este deporte me ha permitido tener muchas. Ahora representare a mi país en Los Angeles.

I had primary school education and started working at the Center for Down Syndrome at age 17 in my state in the area of early childhood stimulation. To this day I still work there.View Story Soy la ultima hija de 5 hermanos y nací con discapacidad intelectual, estudie la primaria y comencé a trabajar a laso 17 años en el Centro Down de mi estado en el área de estimulacion temprana y hasta la fecha sigo trabajando ahi. Soy soltera y me hago cargo de mi madre. Soy trabajadora, emprendedora, sociable, platicadora, tolerante pero como mi carácter es un poco difícil pues en ocasiones me enojo cuando algo no me parece. He participado en diferentes disciplinas deportivas desde muy joven y he sido convocada en varias competencias estatales y nacionales, como en atletismo, boliche y últimamente mi actividad principal ha sido el Tenis.Me he esforzado mucho al combinar el trabajo con el entrenamiento de tenis el cual asisto los sábados y domingos y mi preparación ha sido muy intensiva ya que he participado en diferentes torneos unificados.Ahora representare a mi país en los Juegos Mundiales en Los Ángeles.

I'm Mauricio Valerio Berrones, I was born in San Luis Potosi 25 years ago. I have Down Syndrome when I was born, my parents say, they did not expect a special child, but I was accepted with love and affection.View Story Soy Mauricio Valerio Berrones, nací en San Luis Potosí hace 25 años, tengo Síndrome de Down, cuando nací, dicen mis papás, que no esperaban un niño especial, pero así me aceptaron con mucho amor y cariño. soy el ultimo hijo de 3 hermanos. Mis hermanos hacían deporte y así fue como yo empece a estar interesado en el deporte, jugaba futbol con mis compañeros y raquelbol con mi papa pero hace 8 años el murió. Ahora vivo con mi mamá y a que mis hermanos y a se casaron, juego torneos de tenis y a veces mi hermano Ricardo jeuga conmigo. Tambien practico tae kwon do y boliche. Hace 15 años soy parte de Olimpiadas Especiales con mi entrenador Uriel que entrena a personas con y sin discapacidad. Ahora fui seleccionado para representar a mi país en los Ángeles. Ademas del deporte voy a la escuela donde trabajo en el taller de maquila, me gusta bailar tocar la guitarra y hacer amigos.

Florida State Summer Games

Special Olympics Florida’s Summer Games are the largest event on the calendar with athletes competing in athletics (track & field), bocce, cycling, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. This event is held annually at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and kicks off with an exciting Olympic-style opening ceremonies featuring the final leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Pennsylvania State Summer Games

The Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games will be held at Penn State University in State College. The event will together over 2,000 athletes and 750 coaches from across the state. This is our largest event of the year. The Summer Games will feature three days of intense competition in aquatics, athletics, basketball, bowling, equestrian, golf, gymnastics, softball and tennis. Every race, every game, every competition held at Summer Games represents many weeks of training, preparation and dedication on the part of our athletes, coaches and volunteers. Massachusetts State Summer Games

The official start of the Special Olympics Massachusetts Summer Games begins with the traditional Opening Ceremony at Boston University. Highlights include remarks from special guests, one of our athletes acting as master of ceremonies, the Parade of Athletes, the Special Olympics Massachusetts flag relay and presentation and finally the culminating Torch Lighting Ceremony, by the Guardians of the Flame–our partners in the LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNITY. Saturday morning the games will begin on the grounds of the Harvard University athletic facilities, surrounding historic Harvard Stadium. Over 1,900 ATHLETES compete in the sports of aquatics, gymnastics, powerlifting, tennis, track & field and volleyball.

Virgina State Summer Games

Summer Games, our largest State Games, is nothing short of legendary thanks to the overwhelming support of more than 3,000 local volunteers who brave the summer heat to assist more than 1,300 Special Olympics Virginia athletes each June. Athletes come from all corners of the state to compete in bocce, swimming, softball, track & field, bowling, powerlifting, and tennis at the University of Richmond and surrounding venues in Richmond. Northern California State Summer Games

Summer Games is the culminating competition for our spring sports season and is one of the largest Special Olympics sporting competitions in Northern California. After weeks of training and competing at a Regional competition, athletes will compete in aquatics, bocce, tennis or track & field. World Summer Games Los Angeles 2015

In July of 2015 more than 7,000 athletes from 170 countries will come to Los Angeles, California for the Special Olympics World Summer Games and enjoy 10 days full of joy, friendship and competition.
