On Thursday, 14 May the Special Olympics Flame of Hope for the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015, was lit during a formal torch lighting ceremony at the Sacred Site of Pnyx, opposite the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.
Global partner Catholic Relief Services has recently awarded Special Olympics Kenya a grant to support early childhood development for children with intellectual disabilities. The grant will afford Community Health Workers a chance to be trained on the Special Olympics Young Athletes program.

Well I have, more that once. First it was with Ephraim Mohlakane and now it was with Sipho Zwane, a Ten Pin Bowler from Logwood Village. For both times it has always been a Unified Sports Event. With Ephraim it was with the Africa Unity Cup and with Mr Zwane it was the Ten Pin Bowling Interprovincial.
My story starts in the year 2002, the year my parents found out I had a severe mental disability. I always found sports difficult until I discovered the sport of netball. I was able to play this sport well and enjoyed it a lot.
