Just like the R word Or N word the word Midget is offensive to Dwarfs or Little People. I try to educate parents through the children. The phrase sticks and stones is now incorrect.
My best friend, Elizabeth had down syndrome she was so very pretty, you would never had guessed she had it. She had told me one day during lunch. She died 2 years later which was february 10 i am now in the 7th grade ill never forget Elizabeth Johansen.

When I started with Special Olympics in Colorado I wasn't that fit and sometimes had a hard time moving. After my first state games, I felt that I could do anything.
When I started playing for the Special Olympics I was unsure of where I was. I wasn't very strong and independent like how I am now.

My little sister has Down Syndrome and ever since she came to my life she has been the best sister ever, she is Loving, Sweet, and Caring. She does everything just like any other kid, she is involved in sports and loves swimming.
I don't think it is nice to say the word retarded because it hurts people when you say it to their face and it just hurts their feelings
My boss used the word "retarded" in a self deprecating manner during a one on one conversation with me. I was stunned. This is an educated, caring, sensitive, brilliant woman; someone I have a great relationship with and respect immensely.
