Today I am closing an event I call the caravan of love, hope and sharing through the spirit of sports. We are In Jeremie, one of the ten departments of Haiti, the extreme capital of the south. We hosted the Camp at an orphanage.
Special Olympics Haiti is really thankful to Tarik Khan a nurse practitioner who used to coach Special Olympics athletes in The U.S.A. With the desire to help the many children that live with intellectual disabilities she will start a class for teaching them.
Enabling Minds and the leadership at The St. Charles Borromeo School in Croix-des-Bouquets share a similar vision with the Special Olympics: by helping to include people with intellectual disabilities into the community, the entire country and world will benefit.
The moment was amazing and joyful for the athletes that really show their happiness by playing with professionals. Donald a Special Olympics athlete scored three goals and received a ball as award and has said he can beat any professional after this experience.
