Officials in Puerto Rico minding a start.
How their feet must hurt! They are there poolside, on that hard concrete, for hours, watching and tending starts, minding each turn and each finish. They stay alert and they stay moving. Special Olympics takes a disciplined approach to its sports, and every athlete needs to follow every rule. There ARE disqualifications, and they can come in a variety of ways. Not putting out full effort. Not touching the wall on turns. You name it. Officials may have what's called a thankless job, but the organization is thankful they're there, that they use their professional skills and judgment and keep Special Olympics events at high standards.
