How we will use what we learned at the Youth Summit!

By Thabiso Lelaka, Mosa Peterson, Tshepo Nyakata, Thabiso Mosimanyana, Orapeleng Mongala, Gosiame Diale

We as people with disabilities have many talents without the help of so-called “normal people.” Special Olympics has given us the chance to show off our talents. People with intellectual disabilities have been marginalized in South Africa. Through the introduction of Special Olympics, there is no more discrimination. All kinds of people play soccer together. If this mentality can be cascaded down, everything will be all right in our country. Through sports and other activities, we can be reinstated to mainstream schools. People have accepted us as we are within our community. If we create a soccer league for special schools, we would be able to compete against each other. After we have competed against each other, the winner must challenge the mainstream schools. Then teams representing different provinces in South Africa can play against each other.
