SONJ Athlete Inducted into High School Athletic Hall of FameKaty Lido | oct. 22, 2012 | North America: New Jersey On October 14, 2012, SONJ athlete Michael McGrath was inducted into the Raritan High School Athletic Hall of Fame. As an inductee, Michael (Class of 1997) will see his name proudly etched on a monument at the entrance to the school’s athletic fields. While in HS, Michael was on the track and cross country teams for 2 years, manager of the football and wrestling teams for 3 years, and a leader on the Rocket Special Olympics track team all 4 years. Michael has been competing in Special Olympics for over 20 years, primarily in track & field. His commitment came to fruition several years after graduation. In 2006, Michael represented NJ at the National Games in Iowa and in 2007, he was one of two track & field athletes from NJ chosen to represent Team USA at the Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai. In China, Michael’s hard work and dedication earned him Silver in the 1500M after he edged the 3rd place finisher by 0.13 seconds, and Bronze in the 4x400M relay. Congratulations Michael!
