This is a story about one of our Special Olympics athletes in Hungary: "I am Andrea, a 17 years old football player from Special Olympics Hungary and appeared on TV because of my sports achievements and scholastic records.
I got to my special school “Balla Robert” in Papa city in 2009. At that time I was a bit overweight but loved to do sports. After a few years regular training I lost weight and became strong and fit.
Though I do athletics, hand ball and table tennis, my favorite sport is football. At first I was playing football with boys. Now my special sports club has girl football teams, moreover there are girls and boys unified football teams. I play as a forward in my unified team. The first international event I attended was the SO European Games in Warsaw in 2010. It is an amazing monument in my life and hope this was just the start.
The local TV company asked me to give them an interview at the end of this October. They heard about my success in football, also that I got an award from my school as “ The best sportswoman and pupil of the Year”. I was very proud of showing my school, my sports club and my achievements.
Now I am preparing for the national unified football tournament will be held in the middle of December. I want my team to win. That would be a nice Xmas gift for all of us."
