Wisconsin Athlete Nominated Team Co-Captain by his Peers at Team USA Training Camp! Christina Harris | янв 25, 2013 | North America: Wisconsin Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) athlete Alex Guild, 22 of De Pere, was recently selected to compete in snowshoeing at the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. Alex is the only representative from Team USA who is competing in the longest three snow shoeing races offered at the World Games. Alex will compete in the 5K, 1,600 meter and 4x400 meter relay. His parents, Laurie and Rick, are making the journey to South Korea and will cheer him on every step of the way! He was voted Team Co-Captain by his peers at the training camp in Lake Placid in December. Guild, who is one of three SOWI athletes representing Team USA, said, “This is a tremendous opportunity to represent Wisconsin and the USA in competition, to travel to another part of the world, and meet, interact, and compete with teammates and foreign competitors.” During his time with Special Olympics, he has received a total of ten State Games medals, including four gold, four silver and two bronze.
