Former NBA star Sam Perkins plays floorball.
Former NBA star Sam Perkins tried his hand at floorball for the first time ever during a Floorball All-Star Fan tournament at Gangneung Stadium on Day 1 of competitions at the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games. Four teams competed in the mini tournament of four games, comprised of a mix of Special Olympics athletes and celebrity guests and sponsors.
Sam Perkins, known by his nicknames “Sleepy Sam” and “Big Smooth” had this to say about his floorball debut: “Wow, floorball is a challenging sport and very exhausting. I didn´t have to run around that much on the basketball court. Great experience though and I felt that I got better all the time during the tournament. A great game and a great event”.
Sam Perkins is a board member of Special Olympics International and won a gold medal with the US national team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
