Teach Me More

By Karyn Tan

Takeshi Hashimoto (center) with his coach (Left) and teammate.

Placing 8th in competition may discourage some athletes, especially after winning gold at two previous World Games but not Special Olympics Nippon (Japan)’s Takeshi Hashimoto.  His reaction was to be more determined than ever.  This accomplished snowboarder won gold in Nagano (2005) and Idaho (2009). Takeshi’s teammates view him as a role model and leader. He headed into Winter World Games Pyeongchang 2013 ready to continue his winning streak. In his latest race, he finished in 8th place for the Snowboarding Advanced Giant Slalom. Despite his disappointment, he turned to his coach and said "teach me more, I want to snowboard faster."
