Even as one of the youngest volunteers of the DALs (Delegation Assistance Liaison), I believe that I was given the same inspiration and love all the others received through this special event, perhaps even more. I was honored to have served the delegation of SO Belgium, most likely the most passionate and delighted delegations to have attended the games. Over the short time we had together, we were able to exemplify what Special Olympics is all about: unity, friendship, and love. Quickly, we became one family, one unit. We laughed together, cried together, rejoiced together, and most importantly we shared with one another our lives. Even the KBS clips and pictures of me crying cannot capture the emotions I have towards my delegation. The love that was constantly pouring over me was astounding enough, but I think it was even more amazing to see that I too was capable of returning that love. The 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games redefined who I am and helped me to find the next step I must take.
