The Impact of Professionals

On April 12, 2013 Special Olympics with Digicel organized a great event with three coaches for the young soccer players of Chelsea Football Club from England. David Pau Monk, Kane N. Cowburn and Andrews Andrew P. Ottley were the coaches of Chelsea that come to Haiti. The coaches were very happy to be here in Haiti and share with our Special Olympics athletes. The moment was amazing and joyful for the athletes that really show their happiness by playing with professionals. Donald a Special Olympics athlete scored three goals and received a ball as award and has said he can beat any professional after this experience and feels more confident on his ability now and is waiting for Messi and Guadiola next time. The coaches were excited to see the teamwork, motivation and camaraderie on the field by Special Olympics athletes. The athletes wanted to be there and keep competing; and didn’t even want to go home. The coaches confess that it was really different from what they’ve experienced before.
