Team Prishtina took victory in the European Football Week tournament in Kosovo.
The talent of the female footballers stood out during European Football Week in Kosovo under UNSCR 1244/99. This yearly event which runs from May 18th – 24th was celebrated with a football competition between 40 Special Olympics athletes from Mitrovoca, Pristina, Obiliqi and Ferizaj. Prishtina came out victorious.
Day by day football (soccer) is getting stronger at Special Olympics Kosovo under UNSCR 1244/99 – more and more athletes are getting involved and coaches and volunteers are truly impressed and proud of their achievements. They see first hand how the power of Special Olympics in changing attitudes and promoting respect.
According to one coach his greatest pleasure is seeing how far the female footballer has improved: “Today they are playing football as good as their male mates, or even better than some guys on the field!”.
