Bosnian footballer signs on as ambassador

Special Olympics Bosnia and Herzegovina gave a hearty welcome to highly popular professional footballer Asmir Begovic who agreed to become a Program ambassador. Begovic, a popular sports figure in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is goalkeeper for Premier League Stoke City (UK) and a member of the National Team. He made his commitment to Special Olympics at a press conference and signing ceremony held on June 2, 2013 at the Mjedenica residential center for children and youths in Sarajevo. During the press conference, Begovic expressed his desire to help children with intellectual disabilities: “I love sports and working with children. I will tell people I know about Special Olympics Bosnia and Herzegovina and the situation of children with intellectual disabilities in the country. We want to promote what Special Olympics does, what it has achieved, how much children with intellectual disabilities need our help, and how many people work and volunteer.”
