Working Together to be Unified

As Unified Partners in the recent Special Olympics Global Unified Cup in Bangkok, Malaysia’s Muhammad Darwisy bin Uyop and Yugendran Karunagaran found it a rewarding experience. Darwisy is thrilled at helping the team win third place, while Yugendran has a deeper meaning of ‘Unified’: “When I first knew Special Olympics two years ago, I didn’t really understand what it was. My coach explained to me it’s for people with intellectual disabilities, and this tournament combines partners with them in a team. We worked together and fought hard to win the third placing. I really respect the athletes .. they give 100% on the pitch and play better then the partners!”
