Edwin van der Sar trying to stop a penalty.
Despite a rainy start to the day there was a party going on in De Kuip recently, during the Special Olympics National Football Event. Twelve football teams went into competitions with each other in Rotterdam. None other than ex-international Edwin van der Sar was also present to support the athletes.
After the official opening ceremony with a big group of Torch Run policemen, it was time to play football. The day went smoothly and in the afternoon the sun even started shining. Whilst the sun started shining Van der Sar arrived in De Kuip to support the athletes.
After handing out several autographs and posing for several photographs, Van der Sar had to put on his old goalkeeper gloves. Several footballers were actually allowed to take a penalty against the ex-international. Some of the footballers scored some super goals. However, Van der Sar hadn’t lost his old ways and was able to make a few saves.
