1st Open Water Tournament El Salvador Special Olympics

The 1st Open Water Swimming Tournaments of Coatepeque as held on July 26. The event began with a speech by the President of Special Olympics El Salvador, Sandra de Uceda who expressed: "We are delighted by this new sport opportunity for our athletes" he also encouraged parents to continue to support their children in sports development. Athletes swam in a circuit of 500 meters and should complete 3 laps to make the maximum 1500 meters. It was attended by members of the Board, parents and more than 40 people who participated in the development of the event, among them members of the National Police National Tourism Police, Red Cross, officials, coaches and volunteers. In Division M1 500 mts was Jose Alfonso Mata, 13 years of age with a time of 35.39. In Division F2 was Flor de Maria Mendacious, who won gold with a time of 45:20.83. Diego Cortez Division M1, 13 years won the gold medal in the 1500 meters completing in 45:35.30. Francisco Hernadez Division M2 came to the finish line with a time of 37:39.72 earning the gold. The silver went to Edgar Perez with the time of 42:12.78 for 18 and 21 years respectively.
