Mexican Softball Team
Mexico won second place and silver medal in the Special Olympics International Softball Tournament in New Jersey, after losing in the match for the first place in their division T-2 to North Carolina, in a tight game that was decided in the last inning. Sonoran Athletes were just three outs to get the win, however, in the fifth and last entry, Miguel Avila gave away bases followed by big swings from North Carolina players who made 6 runs in that innings. "We took it as an experience of participation, the boys have come to know it is all about skills and proving that they can achieve in all aspects of sports and as individual and independent people," said Aida Guadalupe Elias Gonzalez Davila, Executve Director, Special Olympics Sonora.
