UNICEF and Special Olympics Bosnia and Herzegovina have agreed to work together to highlight the rights and abilities of children and youth with intellectual disabilities through joint activities in the campaign for social inclusion and prevention of discrimination titled “It’s about Ability!”. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Florence Bauer, UNICEF Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Enver Ćosićkić, President, Special Olympics Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 13 August, 2013 during the Youth Sports Games in Sarajevo. The games involved over 7,000 children, including 200 Special Olympics athletes. As part of the campaign, on 14 August young Special Olympics athletes joined other children in walking with National Team players onto the pitch at the USA vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina World Cup Qualifier. Earlier, they were among 40 children who were invited to Team USA’s training session. The campaign was launched in July 2013 by UNICEF, the European Union and USAID.
