Special Olympics Senegal hosts a successful gala dinnerMrs Rajah Diouri Sy. | nov. 21, 2013 | Africa: Senegal The glittering event was attended by the patron of Special Olympics Senegal, the President of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), Mr. Lamine Diack; the Prime Minister, Mr. Mbagnick Ndiaye; the Minister of Sports; the Ministry of Health, and the Special Olympics Senegal Board. The first step was the production of a television advert profiling prominent personalities supporting the event. The television advert generated great awareness and excitement about the event. The actual event took place at the Radisson Blu hotel. Great teamwork was shown by all involved to pull everything together on the night. Special Olympics athletes were well represented and where on hand to welcome guests, to sell raffle tickets and to participate in the program. Athletes were able to showcase their talent in a performance accompanied by the Baobab Orchestra. Tribute was paid during the event to the founder of Special Olympics, Mrs. Eunice Kennedy Shriver. The event successfully achieved its aims of raising funds and generating awareness of what Special Olympics has to offer.
