Special Olympics Benin EKS day celebration Mr. Gbaguidi L. Armand | nov. 29, 2013 | Africa: Benin SO Benin celebrated EKS day at the Bethanie School Complex with a picture gallery of founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver in full display. The display clearly illustrated her enormous contribution to people with an intellectual disability and the legacy that she has left behind. Despite rainy weather conditions the planned Unified® games went ahead with 30 athletes participating in fun activities supervised by 11 coaches and assisted by 12 volunteers. The event was attended by the President of the RAPHAL (Rèseau des Associations des Personnes Handicapèes de l’Allantoïque et du littoral) and the National Secretary General of the Deaf. Prizes were awarded to all athletes in keeping with the Special Olympics tradition of focusing on personal best. The event ended in a celebration of music and dancing honouring the founder of Special Olympics.
