Special Olympics Burkina Faso celebrates its EKS day

By Ms. Annick Pikbougoum

Under the scorching heat of 33 degree sun in Ouagodougou a team from Special Olympics Burkina Faso, including leaders, family members, athletes and friends, helped to create a clean environment for persons with an intellectual disability staying at the Ark of Nongremaasson. Everyone helped by removing weed, picking up garbage and cleaning up the outdoor area. The team chose this activity as a way to pay tribute to EKS, the founder of Special Olympics. To commemorate the day, and as a sign of new beginnings everyone helped to plant new trees at the centre. In closing the Director of the centre Ms. Gilberta Ilboudo warmly thanked the team for their efforts and Special Olympics Burkina Faso National Director Ms. Annick Pikabougoum for choosing the centre. The centre partners with Special Olympics Burkina Faso and their residents participate in Special Olympics.
