Special Olympics Seychelles celebrated Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day at Victoria City, Mahe, Seychelles. The event was attended by the Minister of Community Development in Sports and Social Welfare, and the CEO of the National Sports Council. This ensured great event coverage and awareness when it was shown live on the national news. The athletes were treated to a great parade around the city streets before congregating at the stadium to participate in football, bocce and athletics. During his speech the Honorable Minister emphasized the need to involve all persons with an intellectual disability in Sports for their health and well being. He went on to urge all parents to bring their children, with or without and intellectual disability to participate in sports.
