Special Olympics Israel - National Tennis TournamentSophie Katz | janv. 07, 2014 | Europe Eurasia: Israel A Special Olympics tournament was organized at the Israel Tennis Centers ("ITC") – Beer Sheva. Over 50 athletes from different centers around the country (including Beer Sheva, Akko, Yokneam, Jerusalem, and Ashkelon) came together in Beer Sheva for a morning of fun and games. The event started at 10am with an introductory briefing by Shaya - SO Israel Tennis Coordinator. Then all the athletes split into separate groups according to their level of tennis. After finishing all the matches, everyone came together for the prize giving ceremony. As you can imagine it was an incredibly special day. The smiles on the faces of the children is difficult to describe to you in an email. This day is what the ITC is all about - giving children who have been left behind by society a chance to excel, to be proud of themselves, and to just have fun. It’s great to win trophies and medals, but it’s even greater to save a child’s life. I can tell you that our activities are making a huge difference, not only in their lives, but in the lives of their parents. We are making a difference !
