By Siret Kruk

147 cross-coutry skiers from 4 countries competed in Estonia.

For the third year Otepää city gathered 200 Special Olympics cross-country skiers aged 10-62 and their coaches from Estonia (24 clubs, special schools and centres), Latvia , Lithuania and Poland. The Games started on 5th March morning from the ceremonies in front of Otepää Municipality House and followed by Torch Run in escort of the friendly Estonian Police to the Ski stadium, where the Opening Ceremonies took place. Despite high temperatures and very difficult snow conditions in all of Europe, athletes could compete on perfectly prepared venue, in division races from 100m to 1,2km. On 6th March, the finals and relays 4x500m were concluded with emotional awarding and closing ceremonies. The ski resort in Otepää is famous for its world-class standard where World Cup and championships in cross-country skiing have taken place. After the competition participants relaxed in Pühajärve Spa and Holiday Resort, where attractions and social activities were organized.
