Special Olympic athletes self advocating for health at the World Disability Day at UN headquarters

By Drew Boshell

I had the honor to represent our Special Olympic athletes and our work to reduce health disparities at the World Down Syndrome day at the U.N. After my presentation I was surrounded by athletes and self advocates Stefen Slowinski, Anna Rose Rubwright and Samantha Orthey who shared that they are part of Healthy Communities. Although they were looking forward to meet me, the real honor was mine. These athletes are on the front-lines of self advocacy and we are all so proud of them. They inspired and encouraged me to work harder to remove all barriers to care for all our superstars athletes.
