Ten Bulgarian towns celebrate Football Week

Football action in one of 10 towns that organized regional games in Bulgaria throughout May.

Inspired by the Special Olympics European Football Week 2014, Special Olympics Bulgaria organized 10 Regional Games in May to celebrate the talents, motivation and sports gifts of young people with intellectual disabilities throughout Bulgaria. The football competitions for boys and dodgeball competitions for girls were held in 10 towns and involved over 800 Unified athletes and partners from 15 regions. Forty-one volunteers helped keep the games run smoothly. The games attracted 36 local and national media. The games were organized in partnership with the Bulgarian Football Union, Bulgarian Union for Physical Culture and Sport, ProSport Foundation, Zhika Foods Ltd, the Amateur League of the Bulgarian Football Union, UEFA Grassroots Program, Association of Bulgarian Insurers, and over 100 Bulgarian Schools, 20 Resource Centers, 20 Regional Education Inspectorates and 33 Bulgarian Municipalities.
