Kayaking Regatta in Sztum awards by Adam Korol, Polish Minister of Sport and Leszek Czarnobaj, Senator.
The local kayaking regattas in Sztum on 19 Sept. were very special, as 20 year ago sports of kayaking was introduced in same place with first official regattas for Special Olympics Poland. After few years it has been developed all around the country and abroad. Since 2003, kayaking was included in the World Games program and grew in Europe. This Autumn we invited two new Programs, Ukraine and Lithuania, to join the kayaking family, as follow-up of mini-seminar organized in Lviv, Ukraine in May 2015. 29 paddlers from Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine competed on 200m in touring kayaks in singles and doubles crews, and 7 athletes used pro-type boats. The event had a second historical moment, the first demonstration in Open Water Swimming with 11 swimmers from 3 countries on distances 300m (beginners), 500m and 1500m. The event was attended by distinguish guests such as Adam Korol, Polish Minister of Sport and Leszek Czarnobaj, Senator of Poland, and local authorities.
