Special Olympics Athletes are Advisors in the Middle East-North Africa Region

Rahma Khaled from Egypt, Raghda El Atr from Lebanon and Abdallah El Shrany from Saudi Arabic have joined the Regional Advisory Council. They met with Special Olympics leaders from the Middle East-North Africa Region to review major accomplishments, discuss key issues and talk about their ideas and suggestions at the Regional Advisory Council meeting in Abu Dhabi from 9-10 October 2015. It was attended by Special Olympics Regional President and Managing Director Ayman Abdel Wahab, Regional Advisory Council members and other Program leaders from the MENA region. The Region's executive plan of activities for the rest of 2015 & the beginning of 2016 was discussed, such as, the First ever Triathlon event in Bahrain and the first-ever Regional Winter games in Lebanon at the beginning of 2016. The attendees also discussed a number of prominent issues like partnership development and fundraising. The development of the next Special Olympics strategic plan for 2016-2020 was briefly discussed. Last but not least, all Programs’ leaders shared their vision and strategic priorities for the upcoming period; the meeting was fruitful and yielded a number of recommendations.
