Special Olympics Panama creates new bonds to promote inclusion

A Special Olympics Panama Unified soccer team had the opportunity to share with a “Mundial del Barrio” team, as part of the partnership with Movimiento Nueva Generación in favor of the Panamanian youth and the labor against the discrimination of persons with intellectual disabilities.

The activity, which took place on February 15 at the synthetic field in Los Libertadores, in Tumba Muerto, is the first step of a strategic partnership to bring a message to society of inclusion through sports for people with intellectual disabilities. This was organized as part of the celebration of the 15 years of the “Mundial del Barrio” project’s creation, which offers recreation opportunities to thousands of at-risk youth in the country.

Special Olympics Unified Sports Program joins persons with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team and offers the opportunity to show a fast way to inclusion and acceptance.
