This year, Special Olympics Seychelles took the annual EKS Day celebrations to President’s Village Children’s Home.
The day is a celebration of the spirit and vision of Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
The mission of the home is to provide a special family environment to orphans and children whose parents are faced with socioeconomic difficulties, including those with physical, intellectual and learning disabilities.
The day kicked off with a march, followed by a 7-a-side Unified Football match and a women’s Unified Volleyball match. Coach Erica Celeste led activities with the youngest members of the group. Former Athlete Leader Francis Brizillia was also honored with a small token.
During the after-games refreshments, Special Olympics Seychelles national director Brian Camille thanked the children and all the staff for accepting the invitation, and we look forward to another day of Unified Sports.
By committing acts of inclusion, acceptance and unity for and with people with intellectual disabilities, we continue to build on Eunice Kennedy Shriver's legacy.
