Dedication and Determination Launch Athlete Into New Competition Level

Twelve-year-old David Stevens is a third-year Special Olympics veteran, and just finished competing in the 2016 State Horse Show in Gainesville, GA. As an athlete of Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) Parkwood Farms Equestrian Team, David participated in Unified Drill Team and Dressage this year. With his drive and dedication, David was determined to improve his riding skills, ultimately enabling him to advance from Intermediate I competition, which he competed in at the 2015 State Horse Show, to Intermediate IV competition. He won a Gold Medal in both events, proving that confidence, hard work and passion are keys to success on any playing field. David's zeal, strong work ethic and enthusiasm illustrate traits that Special Olympics athletes learn to apply in competitions and, more importantly, in everyday life.
